2020 04 28 REFERENCE Nasiha Lachaud LETTER
- April 28, 2020
- Dear Sir/Madam,
- It is an immense pleasure to write this letter of recommendation on behalf of Mr. Barton Christner. I worked with Professor Christner on his online course development and Online Teaching Certificate at Florida A&M University. Throughout the process, I found Mr. Christner to be highly motivated, dedicated and detail oriented. To this day, I use his work as an example to share with other faculty across campus.
- Professor Christner worked throughout eight months with the Office of Instructional Technology (OIT) creating courses. During this time, Mr. Christner planned, designed, and developed two online courses (GRA1111 and GRA1433). He further extended his expertise by developing and implementing an additional eleven hybrid/fully online courses.
- Professor Christner’s LMS based Course Plan, Syllabus, Schedule, Lessons, Rubrics, Discussions, Moderation, have been approved by the University’s Curriculum Committee for both synchronous and asynchronous, and hybrid as well as online-only learning. His LMS Curriculum was applauded by the School of Journalism and Graphic Communication as well by the Provost Eddington and Vice President Barrington, during University Assessment events.
- Mr. Christner presented his fully-online curriculum, alongside President Robinson and others mentioned here, during OAU Assessment Day held on November 6th, 2019. Furthermore, the OAU is currently sharing Mr. Christner’s fully-online curriculum, as an example of “best-in-class” fully-online curriculum plan and design, for faculty across FAMU campus. Without a doubt, the benefits of a strong “best-practices” curriculum example, like that of Bart Christner’s, could not be more relevant in a time of coronavirus, lockdowns, and worldwide movement to Online learning environments.
- Mr. Christner is a skilled online instructor and focuses on his professional development. His efforts to impart his knowledge and skills to other faculty in his Department is also noteworthy. I found Professor Christner to be very supportive of his colleagues. On several occasions, I witnessed Mr. Christner to take the lead in guiding and supporting his new colleagues with their teaching and professional development endeavors.
- Overall, Mr. Christner’s experience and dedication makes him an excellent fit for the job. I have no reservation in recommending Mr. Christner for the executive role and will be more than happy to answer any questions that you may have.
- Sincerely,
- Dr. Nasiha Lachauds
- Office of Instructional Technology
